Community 1st Credit Union Foundation Donates $15,000 to American Cancer Society's Russell and Ann Gerdin Hope Lodge

Community 1st Credit Union (C1st) is thrilled to announce a $15,000 donation to the American Cancer Society Russell and Ann Gerdin Hope Lodge in Iowa City.  This contribution will support the lodge’s mission to provide free lodging for cancer patients and caregivers, alleviating financial and emotional burdens during treatment.

In 2023, the Russell and Ann Gerdin Hope Lodge hosted 942 guests, offering 14,482 nights of free lodging and saving patients and families millions in hotel expenses. By providing a comfortable, safe, and cost-free home away from home, the Lodge helps reduce barriers to treatment and improve the quality of life for patients and caregivers.

C1st grant-funded project awards are made possible through the C1st Credit Union Impact Giving Fund of the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation.
