C1st Receives $625,000 CDFI Grant to Support Community Development Initiatives

Community 1st Credit Union (C1st) is excited to announce they have been awarded a $625,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund. This significant investment will enable C1st to further its commitment to promoting financial inclusion and supporting underserved communities throughout Iowa.
"We are incredibly honored to receive this grant from the CDFI Fund,” said C1st President and CEO, Greg Hanshaw. “This funding will allow us to enhance our services and make a deeper impact on the communities we serve, empowering more members and businesses to achieve their financial goals.”
As a CDFI-certified credit union, C1st is committed to providing affordable financial products and services to individuals and businesses in underserved areas. This grant will help fund key community-focused initiatives, including expanding access to financial education, offering more affordable loan products, and investing in local community development projects.
With this $625,000 grant, C1st plans to:
- Expand affordable lending programs, including home and business loans.
- Increase access to financial literacy programs and coaching services.
- Partner with local organizations to boost community development in underserved areas across Iowa.
